Looking to live in Atlanta?

So you are looking to buy a house in the Atlanta area but you don’t know where to start? We may be a little biased, but we here at ATL mortgage think that Smyrna, GA is the greatest place to live and work! It’s number 20 on the Niche best suburbs in Atlanta and Money Magazines number 44 choice in the nation.

“There is a palpable feeling that Smyrna is creating something unparalleled in Metro Atlanta. Among the many suburbs in the region, Smyrna can be a community that excels in providing the “best of both worlds” – a small town community experience with all the amenities of the metro area.” Smyrna Community Assessment

Smyrna Community Assessment

In 2014 Smyrna launched a 10 year vision plan stating that, “Smyrna will achieve the highest levels of community attachment and commitment by providing academic excellence for our children, fully involving our citizens in all aspects of the community, creating leadership opportunities for all residents, establishing high expectations for our quality of life and place, and creating a strong identity and image.” In 5 short years Smyrna has accomplished so much, and it is only getting better!

Here are just a few reasons we think you should ask your realtor to show you homes in Smyrna.

Rev Coffee

Rev is one of top coffee shops in Atlanta. You can find us sipping cappuccinos there almost daily! “Rev Coffee Roasters was born and raised by a community that doesn’t settle for “decent,” so we never learned the meaning of the word. In fact, sourcing, roasting, and preparing coffee that pushes the boundaries of exceptional quality is kind of an obsession for us, so we’re glad to have plenty of coffee around to keep ourselves at it. Our heavily-caffeinated and perfectionist mentality toward coffee is in service to every bar in life that could be raised just a little bit higher.”

Rev has great coffee, a huge space for working or connecting, and large selection of great snacks!

Suntrust Park — Braves Stadium

Baseball is America’s pastime and the Atlanta Braves home is in Smyrna. Living in Smyrna means you are close to the action. A game at SunTrust park is a fun-filled experience from start to finish. Every Seat in the stadium is the best in the house, “with 41,000 seats designed to maximize sight lines and make every seat feel like the best in the house. Braves fans can enjoy the best in amenities with 4,000 premium seats featured in the SunTrust Club, Delta SKY360 Club and the Terrace Club. Premium seating includes in-seat service with all-inclusive food, beer and wine, and premium parking”  – Atlanta.net

Living in Smyrna means an Uber to the park is pennies. The park is also designed to make parking a breeze. No longer will you have to spend the first 30 minutes of the game cooling down from road rage because of a chaotic parking experience. All parking is in a an adjacent location to the park which makes parking simple.

The Battery

SunTrust Park also brought The Battery to Smyrna. The Battery is a 1.5 million square foot mixed-use development property directly anchored to SunTrust Park that offers a unique environment to eat, play, and shop. The Battery is quickly becoming a premier destination for foodies and fans alike. With free wifi throughout it is also a great place to post up and work.

Here are some of our favorite places to grab lunch at The Battery:

El Felix — The El Felix is Ford Fry’s Tex-Mex restaurant. We personally love any place that offers complimentary chips and salsa. You can’t go wrong ordering a deluxe fajita with a margarita on warm Atlanta day.

Terrapin Taproom — Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Microbrews… Do we need to say more? This is a great place to check out before a game or after a long week at work.

Haagen-Daz — Nothing beats cooling down with delicious ice-cream after a day of shopping. Haagen-Daz offers ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt options- up to 30 delicious flavors that can be served as cups, cones, sundaes, shakes, smoothies and more!

The Battery also features retail locations for Archer Paper Goods, Waterloo Sunset Records, Harley-Davidson, Rock/Creek, and many more. This makes The Battery a great place to take an out-of-town friend for a souvenir.

Looking for something fun to do?

Within The Battery is the Coca-Cola Roxy, Atlanta’s newest music venue.

“The new two-tiered intimate venue has a flexible configuration including a general admission floor, theater-style seating and permanent seating in the balcony. Both levels are ADA wheelchair accessible. The 53,000 square foot site has state of the art sound, lights and production capabilities for live music, corporate meetings and private events. Coca-Cola Roxy hosts approximately 40 shows per year and presents a diverse range of local, national and international artists and bands.”

Check out what shows are coming into town.

We also recommend checking out Punch Bowl Social, a 25,000 square foot venue with 3 bars, bowling, arcade games, billiards and more! PBS offers an incredible environment to take friends or make new ones.

Porchlight

Porchlight is a stand out amongst the many wonderful restaurants in Smyrna. We celebrate our closings with a lunch at Porchlight often.

“Underneath the big family atmosphere is Andre’s prowess in the kitchen; a master of smoking meats, Gomez trained with some of Atlanta’s most notable chefs including Kevin Rathbun. It was his grandparents though, cooking authentic Puerto Rican and Argentine dishes in their kitchen that influenced Gomez profoundly. The freshest ingredients from the local market, the island spices and her attention to detail was the spark that ignited Andre’s passion for cooking. To that end, he brings flavors steeped in Spanish and South American culture to a menu that is easy to get excited about. Packed full of street foods, sandwiches, and authentic dishes Porch Light is unpretentious, local craft driven and priced for the average guy.” – Porchlight

Smyrna City Market Village

Located in the heart of Smyrna is The Market Village. With 40,000 square feet of retail space and 18,000 square feet of office space The Market Village has elevated the living experience of those that call Smyrna home. The Market Village is home to many wonderful restraunts including the New-Orleans styled Atkins Park Tavern The Corner Taqueria, Village Sushi, and Zucca Bar & Pizzeria. With incredible landscaping and outdoor seating the village is a great place to stroll through on a weekend.

Taylor-Brawner Park & Outdoor Fun

A beautiful 10-acre park filled with gazebos, trails, and a playground. The park is also home to two restored historic buildings, The Taylor-Brawner House and Brawner Hall. Both of which are available to rent for special events and meetings. During the Spring and Summer the park hosts food trucks.

Another great outdoor activity in Smyrna is the Silver Comet Trail, a ‘Rails to Trails’ project that provides a paved trail to jog, walk or cycle on. The trail travels from Smyrna to the Georgia/Alabama state line. The trail follows an abandoned railroad line that was at one point traveled by the Silver Comet Passenger train.

The Square Church

The Square church is a faith community located right in Smyrna. Starting in 2013 the Square exists to create passionate followers of Jesus who partner with God for the renewal of Atlanta. Over the past 6 years they have grown into a vibrant community that has sent missionaries out, walked alongside other church plants in our city, and raised up pastors and leaders. The heart of The Square remains to see God’s people awaken to their calling to be missionaries to their city.
